Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (Hot Melt PSA)

Pressure sensitive adhesive is the core of the Boiling range: hot melt PSA grades that stay tacky at room temperature, supplied as film-wrapped blocks for label, tape, bag, medical and specialty production.

A pressure sensitive adhesive forms its bond under light pressure at room temperature and keeps a measure of tack after application — the behaviour that labels, tapes and self-adhesive products are built on. In hot melt form, the PSA is melted, coated onto a web or component, and sets on cooling while retaining that surface tack. This family is the manufacturer's documented core line, organised into application groups: label adhesive glue, express bag glue, tape adhesive, medical adhesive, decorative glue, packaging adhesive, shoe-making glue, wall sticker glue, velcro adhesive, floor and protective film glues, pest control glue and further specialty applications.

The family's working logic is a balance of three properties: initial tack (how aggressively the bond grabs on contact), holding power (how the bond resists shear and time), and peel behaviour (clean removal, permanent hold, or a deliberate point between the two). Different applications in this family weight those properties differently — a freezer label needs tack that survives cold, a removable label needs peel without residue, a courier bag seal needs a fibre-tearing permanent bond — which is why the range is sold by application rather than as one universal PSA.

Documented Reference — the Seven Label Listings

Documented label adhesive listingsValue
Viscosity (at 180°C)1,500–3,500 cps on the documented label listings
Softening point70–100°C on the documented label listings
Working temperature150–180°C on the documented label listings
Block specification0.45 / 0.6 / 1 / 5 kg per block

Those values are the documented values of the seven label listings the table is drawn from — the label adhesive, label glue, two adhesive-for-labels, barcode, thermal paper and logistics label listings. Other label directions (the permanent sticker, film, freezer and bottle labelling listings among them) and other PSA groups carry their own documented values or none, and the grade offered for your application is confirmed with its own data in the quotation.

How to Specify This Adhesive

A useful enquiry names five things: the substrate or material being bonded, the application method and equipment, the coat weight in grams per square metre where it is known, the temperature the bond must withstand in service, and the test standard your customer applies. Those five points are the same starting points the manufacturer's own customisation process uses when it opens a new formulation brief, and they let the laboratory match an existing grade before anyone talks about developing a new one.

If you are replacing an adhesive already in production, send its current grade name or a sample description — viscosity behaviour, colour and the failure you are trying to fix (edge lifting, ooze, stringing, cold failure) narrow the choice faster than a catalogue number. Samples are part of the documented route: free samples are listed on many product pages, and the freight arrangement for your sample is confirmed in the reply.

Supply, Packing and Samples

The documented minimum order on product listings is 1,000 kg, consistent with the 1-tonne minimum stated in the manufacturer's published frequently asked questions, and the documented production cycle is 7–15 days. Packing follows the listing for the grade — film-wrapped blocks are the standard form, with carton packing stated per product — and can be confirmed against your handling requirements in the quotation. Nothing on this page promises a grade's availability before the quotation confirms it for your specification.

What is the difference between PSA and a standard hot melt?

A standard hot melt sets hard and is not tacky at room temperature; a pressure sensitive hot melt keeps surface tack after cooling, so the bond forms under pressure. Choose PSA when the product itself must stay self-adhesive in use.

Can one PSA grade cover labels and tapes?

Tack, hold and peel are weighted differently per use, so grades are matched per application. State the application in your enquiry and the matched grade is quoted.

Are removable grades available?

A removable-direction label listing is documented — firm initial adhesion with later clean removal for recyclable packaging and temporary labels. Its behaviour on your face stock is confirmed with a sample.
